In the Air
LOWDOM ATTACKED, MANY BOMBS FROM MANY ZEPPELINS. ONE RAIDER BROUCHT DOWN. London, September 3. Official: Shortly before eleven o'clock at night several airships attacked the eastern cpunties, many bombs falling in widely separated localities. The airships were more numerous than on any previous occasion, apparently, the objective of the attack being London. The raiders were heaten off, one being brought down in flames in tbe London district The operations were witnessed by large crowds in the suburbs. DAMACE AND CASUALTIES UNKNOWN.
THRILLING SIGHT OF ZEPPELIN IN FLAMES. The High Commissioner reports.— London, September 3 tl p.m.) An unknown number of Zeppelins attacked London early this morning. The damage and the casualties are unknown. One Zeppelin was brought down in flames at North London, the occupants being killed. Spectators were thrilled at the sight. SQUADRON OF 13 ZEPPELINS.
THREE VISIT LONDON.
TWO DRIVEN OFF, ONE DOWNED. OCCUPANTS MEET DEATH IN THE FLAMES. AIRSHIP MAY BE RECONSTRUCTED. The High Commissioner reports: — London, September 3 (2.50 p.m.) Sir John French officially reports that thirteen Zeppelins participated in the London raid, ten making the Eastern counties their principal theatre. Of three which reached London, two were driven oft", and one destroyed by guns and aeroplanes near Enfield, the occupants heing burnt. The English authorities hope to reconstruct the wrecked Zeppelin. Numerous bombs were dropped in the eastern and south-eastern counties. The extent of the damage and casualties is believed to be slight.
