Mr Bathgate's report on the effect on the wheat market as a result of Roumauia's entry in the war, says it is almost u certainty that Russian wheat, will bo available in large quantities before the end of the season, cither through Salonika or the Dardanelles. Russia's harvest for 1916 is 90,000.000 quarters. In addition, there :re 7(1,000,000 quarters that hn • '<• been stored. The wheat available iii'America will then be no longer ;,i>lc to dictate juices.
WELLiNCTON WOOL SALES. Wellington, September 1. At the second crutching sale to-day. 2700 hale., were offered. In the abs( nee of orders from Japan, crutchings were lower by 3d to 4d per lb for good lots, with practically no demand for seedy lots. Fleece wools were aboul late rates. Prices were: Crossbred medium coarse 14d to 14|d; pieces and bellies, 3d to 6d; locks and stained pieces/, 3d to 5d ; crutchings, medium to good, 10d to ll.d, crutchings, seedy and inferior, 3d to 9d. Lambs, 9d to 13d ; dead, lid to 13d.
