THE HUNT CLUB MEETING. The racing season of 1016-17 as fa as this province is concerned, will open at New Plymouth to-morrow, when the Taranaki Hunt Club will hold their annual fixture. When one considers the prize money offered it must be admitted that a fair class of hack is engaged, and as the fields promise to he large, some capital racing should be witnessed. Proceed - igns will open with the Hunters Handicap for which event fifteen owners cried content. Regio won very easily at Ellerslie, and will possibly start favorite. Ahalone may be his most dangerous opponent. A good field of fourteen figure in the Stratford Hack Fidelio, Royal Park, and Madame Ristori may be backed in order named. The lot engaged in the Ladies’ Bracelet are very ordinary. Possibly Southern and Webshelx will run prominent. The class engaged in the AVaihi Hack are fail'. Flying Camp, Ticino and Dood should provide a good finish. A large number of horses are engaged in the Hunt Club Cup. Expedition stands in a class by himself, but should anything happen to the top-weight Argo is sure to be handy. As many of the acceptors for the Urenui Hack are engaged earlier in the day, starters may be scarce. However, should Golden Grafton start the favorite will not be difficult to choose. Ticino promises to also run well. The Lepperton Hurdles should produce a good contest between Cornice, Kitogue and Union Jack. The concluding event may see Pergola well supported.
