President Woodrow Wilson, in a magazine article headed: “America’s opportunity,” says: “When the war '•loser, America will ho the creditor for all the world, tile stablizer of the world’s finance, and her resources will he unimpaired. America covets nothing belonging to other Nations except skill, knowledge, science, and industry, which sin l can obtain not by conquest or force, but by the adaptability of the people. The- opportunity for which America waited has arrived.”

There were frenzied scenes in the wheat pit in Chicago, and the hears were sensational, being based on the reports of Rumania’s entrance into the war, taken to mean that Turkey will speedily collapse, followed by the exportation of Russian wheat through the Dardanelles. Prices fell seven to eight cents. RAILWAY TROUBLE IN THE STATES. New York, August 28. The raid wav presidents have rejected President Wilson’s strike proposals. The men have also adopted an uncompromising attitude. It is considered that only action hy C'nngiess can avert a serious situation.
