ALLEGED THEFT OF STOCK.

Per Press Association. Dannevirke, August 25

Davis Ormond Smith, farmer, formerlv of Tahoraite, was committed for trial at the Supreme Court, for the alleged theft of four heifers, the property of M. I'. Knight. Hail was fixed at £2OO. The cattle subject to the charge were sold at defendant's clearing sale, two being purchased by Knight. Subsequent investigation led to the prosecution. Smith pleaded not guilty.
