Amongst those reported in yesterday's casualty list as having been admitted to hospital was Sergeant Alfred L. Salmon (next-of-kin, Mr T. H. Salmon, Hawera, lather). Trooper It. H. Lamrjie, reported killed in action, was a well-known farmer in the Ashburton county, Tid a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lamhie, of Kyle. Mr G. W. Sampson, Chief Postmaster at Wanganui, who has i'cen fifty years in the service of the Post and Telegraph Department, is retiring from the service. He is being succeded by Mr W. Beswick, the laie Chief Postmaster at Palmers ton North.
