ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

FATAL MOTOR COLLISION. Per Press Association. Marton, August 18. A fatal collision occurred this afternoon at Pukepapa Road railway crossing, Marton, between a motor car and a goods train. Douglas -McLean, a youth of 13) was driving his mother and sister home. The side curtains were down and the hood up, and they approached the railway line without noticing the train. The engine struck the car wrecking it completely, and throwing the occupants out. Mrs Donald McLean, who is a widow, and a well respected resident of the Rangitikei district, was instantaneously killed. The driver, who sustained a broken jaw and severe shock, is in a semi-conscious state. Miss McLean escaped with injury.
