The Daily Mail’s Milan correspondent states that the capture of Mad logon secures one of the principal defences at northern entrance of the Carso. The Italians now dominate the Vertoilizza lines and the neighbouring slopes and threaten Mount San Marc. The latter is a strong defence point south-east of Gorizia. / AUSTRIAN COUNTER-ATTACKS REPULSED.
The High Commissioner reports: — London. August 15 (2.55 p.m.) On the Italian front last night, the Italians repulsed' several counter-at-tacks, yesterday capturing several sections of enemy trenches and making 1419 prisoners.

A wireless report states: It is estimated that the Austrian losses since the 4th on the Italian front amounted to 25,000 killed, 40,000 wounded and prisoners. Cable Association. (Received 1,510 a.m.) Loudon, August 15. Au Italian communique states: We attacked the Austrian lines westward of Storado and Mount Pennda, capturing several trenches. Heavy fighting occurred on the hills eastward ot ‘ Oorfzia. Austrian demonstrations at various points were everywhere repulsed.
