The report states that ' five- million people, are without resources and ten million are unemployed. Two hundred thousand villages were destroyed. The price of foods and medicines has increased 400 to 500 per cento.

At the reception by tlie .VI etui ftxchango, Mr Hughes said ,the British Government had agreed that for toil years after the war for 100,000 tons of Australian concentrates they would advance half a million and establish electrolytic and spelter works. Arrangements would be made whereby France, Britain, and Belgium would absorb all the concentrates produced here.
