A conference of Clyde workers discussed a telegram received from the Minister of munitions requesting them to continue work, and it was resolved unanimously that periods of rest were essential to health. A week’s holiday at the end of August, was suggested.

Mr Henderson (president of the Board of Education), has resigned, owing to the stress of his Labor work interfering with his duties as President of the Board. Ho wishes to devote the whole of his energies to the adjustment of labor problems. Presumably he stays in the Cabinet., It is expected that Lord Crewe will succeed Mr Henderson as Minister for Education.

In the House of Commons, Mr Asquith stated there was no intention to legislate debarring those who were not British-born from becoming members of the House of Lords, the, Hpuse of Commons, or Privy Councillors. Such a proposal would bar General Botha.

The House of Commons voted £6,000,000 for supplementary pensions. An Irish chemist has invented aniline dye, on which the Government is experimenting, paying £650 a quarter for the rights.
