GOVERNMENT POWERLESS AT CANTON. Press Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Zf Cable Association. London, August 8. The Morning Post’s correspondent at Tiensin says the Government are pitiably powerless at Canton, where Lun-chi-wong holds the upper hand. He says he is willing to hand over the city to a government nominee, but will resist the Republican leaders, who are now attacking the city, hoping to secure great booty.
