ing the infamy of the murder of Captain Fryatt. Berlin issued an official reply, wherein a lame attempt was made to justify the execution, brazenly alleging that Captain Fryatt had made a treacherous attack on the submarine. FUTURE OFFENDERS HANCED INSTEAD OF SHOT.

Newspapers quote the suggestions of the Cologne Gazette and Yolks Zeitung that future British captains who copy Captain Fryatt's methods should be hanged instead of being shot.
THE SUBMARINE MENACE.
SEVERAL SHIPS TORPEDOED.

1 The crews of two schooners, a barge, and a coasting steamer, which were submarined, have been landed at Weymouth and Plymouth. Submarines elsewhere sank the Italian steamer Siena, the Greek steamer Tricoupis, and the British steamers Tottenham and Favonian.
GERMAN DUPLICITY EXPOSED.

A German submarine destroyed 'a Swedish steamer and schooner, tim-ber-laden lor England. The newspapers complain that Germany recently promised to spare timber ships, and thereupon Sweden permitted the export of hundreds of horses to Germany.
WRECKAGE OFF NORWAY.

Lifeboats, rafts, and wreckage washed ashore on the Norwegian coast indicate jjhat the British steamers Calypso and Aaro were mined or submarined. It is. feared that the passengers and crew have been lost.
TOWN BOMBARDED NEAR CONSTANTINOPLE.

Advices stale that a submarine recently entered the He;, .of .Marmora and bombarded Cartel Penbik, an hour's journey from the capital, causing serious damage.
