L.T.L.

(Contributed). In spite of the cold and stormy weather, a very bright and enthusiast|ic meeting took place in. the tfers' Hal|,on Thursday evening, when Mrs Dux'neld inaugurated a branch of the Loyal Temperance Legion. After an interesting little programme had been'enjoyed, his Worship the Mayor introduced Mi's DuxfieM, who said they felt it imperative that the young should be trained, not Only in purity and'temperance, but also in the art of expressing themselves in public j Without embarrassment. Our L.T.L. meetings are conducted on parliamentary lines. The officers are a president, soeretsu"*v«and r treasurer. A librarian and pianist are also elected. All theso offices are filled by the children, tlie superintendent only being an adult. We have hit upon this plan of training the young with the expert purpose of being represented in Parliament by pure and right*; * it 1 - i thinking members for "Righteousness: exalteth a Nation.'' i The motto for the L.T.L. is "Tfem-

blo King Alcohol, we shall grow up." The Salute: "My head, my heart, my strong right hand lor Cod." In answer to a question, .Mrs Duxiield said the L.T.L. is entirely undenominational. They had in their Wanganui branch, Protestant, Catholic, and Chinese children, and they all worked together splendidly. It was resolved that tho meetings be held fortnightly, commencing next Friday, at 7 p.m., and closing at B.lff. The place of meeting, Regan Street Methodist Hall, as that is central and convenient.

The collection amounted to Ms, this siim to be sent to the Y.M.C.A. for the benefit of the men at the front.
