The High Commissioner reports London, August 4 (4.0 p.m.)
The Petrograd official report says: In the region of Lubcchor, our detachments crossed to the loft of the Stokhod, taking a series of heights, where they fortified themselves (n the river Stavey, a tributary to the left of the Stokhod. We fought riverwards, where, we were obstinately engaged ,at the village of Rudtta Mirinedaia. There was bayonet fighting in the streets. The village repeatedly changed hands, but it remained ours, and all attempts to dislodge us failed. The enemy was forced back behind the Stavey, 600 prisoners an 1 12 machine-guns being taken. Elsewhere there is mutual artillery action.
