The Zeppelin raid caused no casualties. One Zeppelin, after the anti-aircraft guns had fired, was seen to stop, .tremble', and then dive. The .raiders used aerial torpedoes. A German official report states that the Zeppelins successfully attacked London and the '•Eastern Counties. Anti-aircraft batteries, industrial, military, and naval works were shelled. The Norwegian steamer Reporse observed several Zeppelins over the North Sea and one near Hull, also a number of German, warships cruising in the vicinity and supporting the airships.

The British claim; success in twenty-five, the French: in twenty-five, and ■ the Germans in- fifty-one. Gunfire downed 28 AngjofFrench and thirty-six Germans.. The German claims of the British loss' agree with British admissions, which show that 30 were destroyed-by gunfire and 18 are missing.
