i Weather Forecast.—The indications are for south-easterly winds, heavy gale.;. Heavy rain probable, and snowon high country, rivers flooded.—Barometer unsteady.—Bates. Wellington: In the height of the snowstorm yesterday afternoon, a motor car collided with a "Stratford Evening Post" runner on Pembroke Road, and gave him a rather nasty spill, but fortunately no serious injury was suffered. Recently, the Indies, of- Dannevirke . sent £7O to Egypt for' the Soldiers' Club in the desert, and nov/ * cable has been received from Miss Rout, acknowledging receipt of the money, and announcing the arrival of Mrs Brown and Miss Jones, and also stating that Sister Kerr find Miss Stephens -had sailed for Salonika. -Press Association. At a conference of the Federation of Patriotic War Relief Societies coday, resolutions were passed recommending that the rate of pay to members of the expeditionary force, be five shillings per day for the first month, instead of four shillings; that a mese,ing allowance be paid to all returned • men while awaiting the medical board after discharge from hospital, and altogether a more liberal interpretation of the conditions under which this allowance may be paid; that the Prime Minister be approached to secure legislation establishing 'a moratorium, so a*to give protection to soldiers in ie"Spect of property owned by them up->n which money is owing, unless the judge otherwise directs, and that the protection granted by the British Government be taken as a basis for New Zealand.—Press Association.
