THE SAN FRANCISCO EXPLOSION. Press Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. New York, August 1. Tho police investigation into the Son Francisco explosion disclosed that it was intended to hurl a bomb from a roof among the railway employees who refused to join the strike. The impossibility to reach the intended portion of the parade caused a change of plans. In the panic, a man with a bomb in a suit case left it on (be sidewalk. Papers seized establish the guilt of those arrested.
TRADE DISCRIMINATION. Washington, July 31. It is generally believed that the United States' protest against the black list is intended to convey to Britain the disapproval of the United States at trade discriminations, such as were laid down at the Paris Conference.
THE PRESIDENCY
New York, July 31
Mr. Hlughes, in accepting nomination for the Presidency, advocated protection sufficient to maintain American standards of living. He favors women suffrage and a stronger foreign policy. "If the Government really meant the strict, accountability threat, and had shown itself prepared to vindicate the position, there would have been no Lusitania incident."
