FARM MANAGER SHOT.

Wanganui, August 1

Advice has been received by the police to-night of a shooting fatality at Parehouhou, up the Wanganui River. The victim was Hoy Harper, twenty years of age. Deceased was employed as manager of a farm there, and it is understood the fatality was tine to a gun accident, but no details are yet available.

RUN OVER BY MAIL CAR.

Nelson, August 1

A single man named Frank Smith, aged 30 years, residing at Lower Mentore, was run over by the mail car on the M*utcre Road this evening, his neck being broken. The car was on its proper side of the road, and had the lamps burning. It appeai-s that deceased became confuted and got in front of thi! car.
