SHOT BY A POACHER. Per Pre.':; Association. Cliristclmrch, July J 5. .Mr James Main, the Canc?rl»wy Acclimatisation Society's ranger at Lake Ellesmere, was shot by a poacher whom lit endeavored to apprehend on Sunday night. One pellet lodged in his right thigh and another jmb above the righ'v eye. \ fev >< •»m]is hack ho was assaulted by a party of poachers and injured about the head, the offenders never being brought to jl stice.
