On Tuesday at Stratford there was a fair yarding of sheep with a fair entry of cattle. The wet, cold day did not improve ihe appearance of the sheep arid’ buyers did not operate freely, vendors’ reserves appearing to put a damper upon them. Cattle were in keen demand selling very readily. Walsh’s dairy cows were mostly backward and were not competed for so readily as for sonic of the other dairy cattle offered. On Thursday, the 6th, at Pukengahu for Mr E. T. Kneebone’s clearing sale there was a fair attendance ol the public who made good compe.ition for the dairy herd which sold ai from £9 to £l6, averaging £l3 Is for the line of 40. Breeding sows made £4 15s to £6, yearling heifers £2 16s to £3 11s, lambs 21s, ewes in lamb 28s 6d.

On the same day at Hahotu for Messrs Green and Tyrell’s clearing sale buyers were present in good numbers. The dairy cows were a good lot in very fair condition, hut a good number of them were aged and showing backward in condition. The best cows sold at from £l3 to £l9, good sor.s \ip to £l2 10s, backward cows £7 15s to £9 10s, empty cows £6 10s to £8 2s 6d. The herd of 87 dairy cows averaging £lO 9s 6d, yearling heifers made £3 12s 6d to £4 10s, in calf heifers £7 to £9, pedigree Holstein Gull 22.)gn5., grade bulls £5 5s to £lO 10s.

At Kaponga yards on Friday, 7th ins-,, there was a good yarding which st;]il as follows;—Empty 20 month heifers £1 17s, store cows £4 18s to C 7 15s, forward cows £8 5s to £9 16s, bulls £3 15s to £9 os, dairy cows up to £l7 ]Os, springing heifers up to £9.

At Eahotu on the same day there was a full yarding with brisk competition for all lines offered. Springers were in good condition and sold very readily at record prices for these yards.
