M. Nadeau states that there are stirring details to hand from the Chartorysk-Rafadalovka front. When the Austro-Germans were hemmed in on three sides and it was decided to retreat, there remained, as the only loophole of escape a narrow passage of 18 versts in extent, into which they rushed. The Russians cannonaded them from north and south, and cavalry harassed and sabred them mercilessly in the rear. The enemy penetrated the first line of General Bothmer’s army, hut were thrown out by a counter-attack, suffering important losses. ENEMY ATTACKING DESPERATELY. (Received 12.55. p.m.) London, July 14. A Russian official message states; On the Stokhod front the enemy is attacking our advanced troops on the left hank of the river. There were desperate Austro-German counter-at- , tacks westward of Strypa.
