ATTEMPTED SUICIDE WHILE

UNDER ARREST.

Per Press Association. Palmerston, July 11

Wilhelm Julius Larsen, who was arrested to-day for failing to maintain his wife and family in the Auckland district, attempted to take the contents ot a bottle of poison on his way to the police station. Larsen swallowed a little before the constable prevented him, and in the struggle the bottle was broken, and a quantity of the liquid burnt Constable Culloty’s lett eye. He, however, brought uie man to the police s.ation, where « doctor administered an emetic to Larsen, who quickly recovered. It is thought the constable will not suffer any permanent injury.
