A Beilin communique „ states: Between the Ancre ’and the Somme, the English launched strong attacks but were shot down on a wide front from Bapaune and Albert Road. Repeated enemy atleihpts' 'to recapture Trones Wood failed with heavy losses. Black French troops attacking La Maisonette were repulsed by overpowering fire. At Leintrey, in Lorraine, a mine bodly damaged the French positions.
