N.Z. L. and M. GOY.’S REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch, report as follows: On 'Jlmrsday, 22nd June, wc hold our usual Kohuratahi sale, and although the roads were very bad, owing to the wot weather prevailing at the time, we had a fair voiding, and cleared most lines at advanced prices. Lambs, medium quality 17s lid, 20-months steer* £0 to £7, fresh store cows £7 to £K. Our next Kohuratahi sale will be held on Thursday, 20th July.
On the same day wo held a clearing sale on account of J. McDadgcn Lsq., Cardiff, and had a very large attendance of the public, although the day was wet. The implements were a credit to Mr McFadgen, as also were the stock, and everything was cleared under keen competition, at very full values. The following are the prices of some of the lines realisedHalfdraught horses £22 to £36, half-di aught yearling £lO 2s Gd, brakes from £O2 ]os to £2l. lambs 22s 1 Id, sows £s*l Os, store pigs 30s Od, 2-year-old heifers £7 17s Gd, yearling heifers 435, store cows made from £b> to £O, cow s showing quality ranged from £lO to £l6 10s.
On Friday, 23rd June, wo bold our usual montiily sale at the To Worn yards. J There was a small yarding, but everything was cleared at full Values. 18-months steers small £5 4s, 18-months heifers €l, weaner heifers 35s to 41s, ewes and wethers mixed 255. Our next To Wera sale will ho held f>n Friday, 21st July.
On Saturday, 21th June, we held a clearing sale on account of Alex. Tunes, Esq., Tututawa, at our Stratford yards. There was a very large attendance of the public, and very keen competition for both sundries and cows. Prices: Brake £lO, horses (light) £2 to Cl 12s 6d, sows .‘Vis to £4 2s 6d, store pigs 18s fid to 20s, slips Os to lls. Shorthorn hull £9, Jersey hull £i ss, aged cows £7 10s to £9 16s, good cows £lO to £ls ss, i.c. heifers 2-year-old £1 IDs to £7.
On 21th June,, we held our horse t sale at Stratford yards, and had a ] small yarding of 139 horses, the 1 ity of which were sold above owner’s ; reserves. Light hack and harness. Up’: .J ses £3 to £7 ss, medium horses, suit- ! able for farm,work £l2 to £lB, milk carters £2O to £3l. Our next horse j sale will be held on 26th August. I On Tuesday, 27th June, we held our , usual fortnightly sale at our Stratiord < yards, when we yarded 1320 sheep and I 420 cattle, nearly all of which were sold at full current values under keen competition. F.m. ewes i.l. 23s 6d to i 25s Bd, empty ewes 22s 6d, cull lambs 12s 4d, 12s 6d, medium ICs 5d to 19s, store cows (lean and small) £4 Bs, £5 15s, forward cows £6 12s bd to £8 Us, fat cows £9 to £lO 10s, weaner heifers 35s to 48s 6d, yearling steers 63s Od to 65s 6d, yearling heifers 63s 6d, 2-year-old i.c.* heifers £5 10s, dairy cows (late ealvers) £9 to £9 17s 6d, bulls £4 5s to £lO ss. Our next sale, a£ J this point will be held on 11th July. | On Friday, 30th June, wo held; our usual monthly sale at Taratawyards, , when we had a small yarding. o,f 390 sheep and 100 cattle, all of which woie sold at full Values. Ewes (i. 1.) 2,4, and 6-tooth up to 31s 7d, woolly lambs 23s 2d, weaner steers 695, weaner heifers 55s to 58s, 20-months steers £4 16s 6d to £5 3s, 3-year-ohl i.c. heifers £8 Is, dairy cows £lO ss, store cows £6 6s to £7 13s (id. Our next sale at Tarata will be held on 20th July. Since wo last reported, wo have sold a considerable amount of stock in the paddock. Wethers up to 28s, fat ewes 3X)s, i.l. ewes up to 365, 21-year empty J heifers £6 3s to £6 7s Od, store cows’ £5 17s 6d to £6 12s 6d, 2-year steers up to £6 10s, 20-months steers £5, bullocks from £lO to £l2, dairy cows (in lines) £l2 to £l2 10s, yearling steers up to 60s. We bold our usual monthly wool, skin and bide sale on Tuesday, 27tb June. We had a fair catalogue of 98 packages of wool, and a large number of sheepskins, hides, etc. The attendance of buyers was good, and the competition for all lines keen throughout. Cm tellings wool sold extremely well, and vendors should he more than pleased with prices obtained. Sheepskins also sold at a decided rise, and hides and tallow sold at advanced prices. The following prices were obtained:—Wool: Fleece Is ;,d, part black 9id to lOd, fleece, part lambs, bidi 93,(1, fleecy hair lOd, lambs Is. lambs bidi Oil to 7d, crutchings to Is ;;d, fleece, dead, part crutchings ]().',(]. skins 3s 7d, salted lambs 2s 3d, Hides: Butchers’ cows 10\d to 103,(I, cow bides 94cl to lOd, steer hide 9(1, yea rlings 7s to Bs, cull skins (cut) 9(1, calfskins 10(1 to 101(1, slipy 7d. Tallow: In tins 26s 3d. Bones, Is per cwt. Our next sale will be held on Tuesday, 25tb July. On Thursday, 6th July, we held a clearing sale on account of Messrs Inglis Bros, and Tbos. Inglis, at their homesteads, Fast Bond, Toko, when there was a large attendance of the public, and good prices were obtained for stock and sundries. Owing to the large number of sundries and
cows to he sold, it was found impossible to get through in one clay. The following are the prices some of the lines realised; Horses, half-draught, £ls, £22 ss, £2.-); cows, best, £lO to £ls; older cows, £0 10s to £9 Os, sows, £3 to £7 17s Od ; store pigs, 20s to 31s, store pigs, small, 10s to 1 Is, boar 3;] guineas.
