Travellers state that, in retaliation for, the 'bombardment of Smyrna,; leading British residents have been interned at Urfa; in Mesopotamia. Two urban districts in- the Turkish quarter of Smyrna were burned, and 2500 persons were killed. • (Urfa.. (or Orfa.') is the- .north of Mesopotamia, and is mentioned in the Bible os Ur. It has a population of 55,000.)
