Prince Wedel, under Heir Hollwog's auspices, lias formed a national committee advocating an honorable and lasting peace. It includes prominent industrialists and agriculturalists. . . Conservative newspapers are indignant and bitterly assail the Government for giving the committee a semi-official sanction. They declare that Germany needs a gloriously decisive, and not a so-called reasonable peace. Further riots occurred at Munich, duo to exasperation at the enormous Bavarian casualties, also to the food prices. The burgomaster has been dismissed for inefficiency. The Frankfurter Zeitung says: All are aware that the military situation is critical. The proper utilisation of tho forces demands weighty consideration. Tire responsibility devolving on the staff w the West is terrible, but our ioruess is firm.

Many food departments have ordered a complete schedule of the food in Germany beginning in August. A conference of high officials discussed a plan for distributing dinners in all large -'German cities. Fivesixths of the'population of Hamburg and ninetecn,twentieths of Frankfurt have already participated in such distribution.
