Captain Wallingford arrived by the mail train last evening, .and is in town to-day, staying at the 5 County Ho. el.

Mr. William R. T. Davey, of Nelson, was presented at a parade of the National Reserve recently with a Maori War medal. Mr. Davey saw service in the New 'Zealand Militia during the Taranaki War, serving under the late Major Sir H. Atkinson.

At the annual capping ceremony in connection with the University at Dunedin, two Taranaki young ladies had the distinction of receiving their diplomas as Bachelors of Science. One was Miss Aiken, of the New Plymouth Girls' High School, and the • other was Miss Struck, of the Hawera District High School.

A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Presbyterian Church this morning when Miss Doris Hyndman, only daughter of Mr 1). Hyndman, of Ngaere, was married to Mr. George Fowler, third son of the late Mr. C. W. Fowler, of Inglewood. The Rev. M Culliford was the officiating Minister, Mr. <T. Cook ac.ed as best man and Mr. H. Webber as groomsman. The bride who was attended by Miss Elsie Butcher and Miss May Fowler as bridemaids, was dressed in a dainty gown of charmeuse silk trimmed with silk lace. The bride wore the usual veil and orange blossoms and carried a white shower bouquet. The Brides travelling dress was a saxe blue costume, white felt hat with white ostrich feather. The happy couple left by the afternoon train for Wanganui.
