Sir, —Subject:" Formation of Drum ■and Pipe Band tor Awapuni Camp. A movement is afoot to provide the, Awapuni Ambulance Training Camp with a Drum and Pipe Band. This is the only Military Camp in >ieu Zealand which has not got a hand, and the object of this fetter is to ask your co-operation in the matter. The iPalmerston North Patriotic Society have very generously offered to present two .pipes to the camp, the balance of the instruments will be purchased from the Camp Recreation Fund, so that the next step is to secure suitable bandsmen. This can only be done with the assistance of the Press. All applicants for posts as bandsmen must enclose a reference, preferably from a bandmaster, or some recognised authority, and should clearly slate instrument the applicant is accustomed to. It must he clearly understood that applicants will only |be entertained from men who are ineligible for Service abroad. The men ichosen will have their passages paid Ha Palmer;: ton North, where, -is bandsmen, they would have the satis- . faction of rendering to their Country useful service at home. It is hard to over-estimate the value of a firstclass band to a camp. On route marches it is extremely beneficial in 'keeping the men in step, besides adding greatly to the pleasure of the march, and at all times services to brighten the lot of the men who haVo responded to their Country's call. The officers and men of the Awapuni Camp would be grateful if you would X give this matter publicity in the columns of your paper. An article would be very helpful. All applications for {Mists as bandsmen should he addressfed to Lieutenant 11. H. Nimnio, Catno- ! Quarter-master, Awapuni Camp, Palmerston North.
