On Thursday, 22nd, at Kahotu, for Mr H. N. Chapman's clearing sale of his Kahili Road herd, I had a good attendance of the public. The cows wore in good condition, but a good ninny were aged and rather late calvers; these reducing the average somewhat, but nevertheless ;i satisfactory average of about £9 was made, 4niontbs pedigree Berkshire boar made £4, sow £2 15s. On the same day at Waitara Road for Mr 0. -J. Herrick's sale, there was a very large attendance. Competition throughout was very keen, everything selling well. The best price for cows was £l6 10s, the herd averaging £lO 12s Gd, weaner heifers made £2 2s, empty 15-month heifers £3 15s, grade Jersey hull £9 10s, empty cows £6 10s to £8 H)s, i'arm horses £2B to £35, mower £ls, dog cart £lB, dray £l2 10s.
On Friday, 23rd, at Rahotu, for my fortnightly cattle sale, 1 had a good entry, all of which was cleared at the hammer as follows:—Weaner heifers £2 12s to £3 Is (k\, weaner steers £2 12s to £3 10s, empty heifers £4 2s 6d, small cows £3 13s to £4 12s, storo cows £5 13s to £7 7s, forward cows £8 to £9 10s, yearling bulls £4 7s, fair sized bulls £8 17s 6d, rough 18month steers £4 10s to £5 13s, incalf 3-year heifers £8 12s Gd po £9 10s, dairy cows £9 10s. At the conclusion of the cattle sale I offered implements, horses, etc., on account of Mi-. X. L. Corkin, which realised re-
cord prices. At Urettui, on Monday 26th inst., ithere was a good entry with a keen enquiry. Prices obtained were.— Yearling steers £3 10s to £3 15s, yearling heifers £2 5s 6d to £3, 20-month steers £5 13s 6d to £7, store cows £5 12s 0d to £7, forward and fat cows £8 2s to £ll ss, in-calf heifers £6 17s Gd to £7 9s, dairy cows £B, springing heifers £5 7s (id to £G 10s, 3-ycar bullocks £lO 2s, empty 20-month heifers £4 Is to £! 10s, small lambs 15s, aged ewes in lamb 17s Gd to £l. On the same day at Midhirst, for Mr G. M. On Friday, at Stony River, there was a full yarding of good cattle, ineluding a good number of yearling steers, the top prices for these ranging from £3 14s to £4 os. T. Rust's clearing sale, there was a [rood attendance. The herd of cows were in fair condition, a few of the lines being a little aged, but a good average of £9 9s was obtained. Yearling heifers made £3 os, breeding sows £o ss.', sundries sold at full values.
* On Wednesday, 28th inst., at Ingle\vood, for my weekly cattle sale, I had a good entry of both sheep and cattle. The attendance of the, ptiblic as might be expected, was not quite up to the average, but those present were buyers, and competition for all lines, with the exception of in-calf heifers, was very keen, excellent prices being realised. A rough pen of 20month steers made £7 Gs, and a nice line "of Shorthorn 20-month empty heifers £4 17s 6d. Other prices were: Yearling bulls £1 15s to £6 17s 6d, yearling steers £3 17s to,£4 3s, yearling heifers £2 83 6d to £3 ss, empty 20-month heifers £4 4s to £4 17s Gd, 15 and 18-month empty heifers £3 13s Gd, in-calf 2-year heifers small £5 2s Gd to £6 ss, 2-year Holstein heifers in calf £7 os, 2-year Jersey heifers £6 15s to £7 10s, dairy cows (small) £7 ss, store cows £5 9s to £7 12s, forward cows £3 3s to £9 Gs Gd, small lambs 19s 7d, sound mouth ewes in lamb 31s 9d to 32s lOd, f.m. ewes in lamb 21s 9<l.
On the same day at Midhirst, for .Air (.'. Fowler's clearing sale, 1 had a good attendance. The cows were good, and sold very readily up to £lB 10s, the herd averaging £l3 10s. In-calf heifers made '£s 15s to £9, vveaner heifers £3 7s, farm horses £22 to £27, drill £33, long-shafter gig £22.
Oil Thursday, 29th, at Stony River yards, for tho clearing sale on account of Messrs Steven ,on and Kirk, there was a fiiir attendance, the very rough morning prnbnhly keeping a number away. Bidding, however, was very brisk, a very satisfactory sale resulting. Yearling steers (mostly rough) made £3 10s (>d to £8 16s Gd, yearling heifers £2 lis to £3 ss, bulls" £8 12s J6d to £9 12 s 6d, store cows £5 15s to £6 15s, stag £lO ss, 2J-year steers £8 J 12s 6d, lambs 22 s 3d, l'.m. ewes in lamb 27s Gd, springing heiieis good £8 [to £9 15s, smaller £4 15s to £6 ss. I The dairy cows were mostly second calvers and calving late, these selling up to CI3 10s, empty small cows at from £| 5s to £6 7s 6d. At Huirangi the same day for Mr C. Young's clearing sale, buyers were present in good numbers. The cows we're a very fair line, selling at from £< 5s to £ll ss, averaging just on £lO. Empty cows made £1 5s to £(i 12 s 6d, empty heifers £3 15s, springing heifers £7 15s, farm horses £ls to £24.
