i'he next tournament will be held in the week commencing January 23, under the same conditions as last year. It was generally agreed that banner challenger competitions lasb season had ncft worked satisfactorily, and it was resolved to revert to the previous district scheme. Mr Lambie was. .in favor of suspending banner matches for a year, and My .Pereival .bought that while ihe, wariwas on it might be well to keep flown th.e keen rivalry of past competitions. Mri'Mas.ers bold that it it interfered with members' efforts in connection witli the war, bowling should lie stopped, but he did not think that was so, while on the contrary even many who were suffering personal anxiety might well be excused for seeking relief in a game of bowls. There was not sufficien. reason for/dropping a competition which, to many bowlers, was in.eresting.
A proposal to suspend banner matches was voted on and lost. It was resolved to divide the Centre into three districts as follows: Southern: Hawera, Eltham, Straiford; Western: Pihama, Opfinake, Manaia, Auroa. Northern: Inglewood, Waitara, New Plymouth, W End and* Fit/.roy. $ There \vas''a' gosd:.deal of discussion on the representation of clubs iu matches. Eventually, on the motion 'of Mr BellHnger, tehe minimum wasi uxed as 'follows:—so players or over, six rinks; 40 players, five rinks;'3D players, four rinks; 20 players, three pink's; under 20 playeYs by mutual ar 7 - langement. Mr Lambie (Pihama) said that while Pihama's membership was only eleven, he did not favor .less than ,three -rinks being allowed 1 '- to play. Pihama would fee aide to dig up an extra' maul'!" li>41 i>4 ~-[•; The question of the disposal of the' funds collecifeil by and through the" Centre' for Ar, relief purposes caused a good deal of- discussion, and after 'de-bating-several suggestions, {lie meeting decided; to hand the money, .over to"the general Tariiriaki Patriotic Society. It ;was further ' resolved to invite clubs to similarly raise money during next season. The question of the Centre undertaking the testing of bowls was brought forward by Mr Sole, but the initial expense was felt to be a difficulty. It was, however, resolved that all bowls used at the tournament must bear the stamp of the Dominion Associaion. Subsequently, it was suggested that if each club would subscribe £l, the Centre might get a machine and do its own testing; failing.this bowls must be sent to Wanganui or elesewhere.
On the motion of/Messrs Bellritiger and Sole, it was resolved to hold the next annual meeting of delegates at Stratford. 'The following meeting will probably be held at Hawera.
