The Times says the King lias degraded Casement from the knighthood, his name being erased from the register of St. Michael.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. London, June 30. The Board of Trade has appointed a committee, under the chairmanship of I«ord Faringdon, to consider ho«- to meet tho needs of British firms after the war regarding financial facilities for trade, particularly with referent to financing large overseas contracts. Mr Asquith has declined t-he churches' request to proclaim August 4 a prayer day, as it would interfere with the production of munitions. The original Kitchener's letter, calling for three hundred thousand recruits; has been sold for £6OOO in aid of the Red Cross Fund. The purchaser will present the letter to the nation.
