THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
United Press Association. (Received 11.0 a.m.) Sydney, July 1
The meat traders approached Mi Tudor in an endeavour to obtain freer export of frozen meat for the ensuing season.* Now that the bad spell has broken, it is considered that Australia should get the advantage of higher prices. The figures supplied of meat afloat and in New Zealand, etc., showed an alarming situation as far as Britain was concerned, the position being jeopardised because the ships having to he insulated for meat might cause a diversion of the trade to New Zealand, and the Argentine. Mr Tudor said he thought it would be best to consider local commerce instead of asking the British Government to release all Australia’s meat.
