' Six bundled delegates representing |reo million Unionists, Mr Gosling kfcsiding, discussed the question of he dearness of food and fuel, and reiolved by 1,516,000 to 1,269,000 in faor of Government ownership of all lerchant shipping. It was resolved bat the practice of holding up itocks of food and fuel should be itegal and subject to heavy penalties; ilso demanding an increase of fifty P ei *ent. in old age pensions during the period of high prices. The Congress passed a’resolution m reference to the Military Service Act WlOg used-for industrial conscription, Kd called upon the Government to al with the grave menace to indusnal labor; an amendment pledging Congress to endeavor to secure the jepeal of the Act was negatived by a hree-fbld majority. ■ Other resolutions asked for the imjositfon of a war tax on personal realth, and requested the Governaent to instruct the military authonies not to send anyone under twenty ifars of age to the front.
