WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. At the last meeting of the Whangamomona County Council there were present: Crs MeCutchan (chairman), Coyne, G cover, McLeod, O’Neill and Cleland. CORRESPONDENCE. A, F. Sharp’s letter re lamps was referred to the Engineer.

It was resolved to reply and intonn tho Ohura County Council that the Whangamomoua County never proposed to provide any part of the cost of the erection of the line, and that a copy of the resolution passed by the Council and forwarded to the Government be sent to tlie Ohura County Council stating- that no reply to same had yot been received.
The Postmaster-General wrote re the extension of the telephone communication front- Tahofe 1 to Tatu.—-The Clerk was instructed- to wri'e to the Postmaster-General explaining clearly what was being applied for, pointing out the misunderstanding that' cxis ed at present, inasmuch as there was no telephone communication between riahort and Tatuf.- 1 ' ••: • The Resident Engineer Public Works Department, wrote notifying the Council that AylwardV Road and a further portion of Marco Road have been declared County* roads. The overseer was instructed to inspect the roads and report on the conditions. general. Tho committee’s action in appointing Mr T. W. Campbell County Overseer was confirmed, i The Chairman; ■ on- behalf of tho Council, extended to Cr. O’Neill, the newly-elected Strathm.oro member, a hearty welcome to the. Council Chamber. Cr. O’Neill suitably replied. On Cr. McLeod’s motion, seconded by Cr. Geever.i it was/decided'that the renewal of the Whangamomoua township bridge No. 2, be proceeded with, and-that the Council provide all ma-
tprials and invito tenders for the erection of the structure The Chairman moved, and it was decided that subject to the loan money being available, and to Mr Monnsey’s acceptance of the proposed class of bridge to be built to give access to bis property, the work bo pu in hand. The-Engineer’s report was read and adopted. The Chairman gave notice- to move at the July meeting that the following. rates be. struck,:—Strathmore.. Hiding 2Jd, Central 3d, Pobokura lid, and Taliora TJd; A resolution granting permission to raise the ,Marco Hoad bridge loan (£275), and the Vera Hoad bridge loan (£000) was carried. Cr. Geovor moved, and the Chairman seconded, that A. Bray be paid the difference between bis ordinary wages and the amount duo to him in insurance during the time be was incapacitated from work. —Carried. R. Mitchell was appointed surfaceman in the Makalin district. The Chairman’s action in putting on a man on the Marco Road to execute repairs was, confirmed.
The Overseer, was instructed to have general watertabiing work on the various County roads carried out as soon as possible. , On the Chairman’s motion, seconder by Cr. Geever, the Overseer was instructed to inspect the nuisance coinplained of by Mr Bradley and int f view the Railway Department re carrying out the necessary repair, work. It was decided to procure 50 cubic yards of metal for the Ohnra Road, Central Riding. i- The County Clerk was instructed to prepare from the valuation roll the 'valuation of all properties fronting ■ each-road in. the County and a staement of the-present balances to deoi or credit. , The accounts as read were pasaoi :for payment.
