MEXICAN PREPARATIONS. [Unhid Pbxm Association.] Washington, June 28. States having asked Canilza to release captured American soldiers and received no reply has fixed a time limit, notifying that if the prisoners are not received at its expiry forcible steps will be taken to recovei them. Carranza has not replied. Feverish war preparations are pro* ceeding in Mexico and many bandit chiefs are joining Carranza. AntiAmerican outbreaks continue.
The United States mobilisation of militia was authorised on June 19, but is not yet half completed. President Wilson is still striving to avoid a formal declaration of war. He is willing to extend the time for Carranza’s reply.
THE SITUATION IMPROVED.
El Paso, June 29.
General Jacinto Trevino has ordered the American prisoners interned at Chihuahua City to be taken to the city of Juarez with their arms and accoutrements and there be released. Washington, June 29.
An immediate break between the United States and the do factor Mexican Government has been averted by the compliance with Amerca’s demand to release twenty-three troopers captured in the fight at Cavrizal. Whether war is prevented or merely postponed no one will attempt to say.
