THE AWAKENING.

A packed lion so greeted the efforts of the management of His Majesty’s Theatre last night, and the programme, presented only maintains the high standard of this popular picture house. With two such line pictures as “The Awakening” and ‘‘Reincarnation” on the bill, tin l success is not to be wondered at. In the former picture Anita Stewart and Earle Williams are seen to great advantage in a splendid story of the contrasts in New York life, whilst in ‘‘Reincarnation” an unusual subject is handled in a masterly and artistic fashion. The pictures in lighter vein an* also excellent. ALLEN DOONE COMPANY. | “MOLLY BAWN.” TO-MORROW NIGHT. Amusement lovers of Stratford are reminded that their favorite comedian, Allen Doone, and his company are advertised to appear in the Town Hall to-morrow night, for one night only. The production will lie a dainty Irish melodrama, entitled “Molly Bawn.” The great popularity of Miss Edna Keeley (leading lady in the Allen Doone Company) of players, was manifested in a marked degree, when, prior to her departure from Melbourne to Sydney, the young actress was accorded a fitting send-off by the Bon Vivantc Club at Ascot House, Ascot Vale. The carriage drive was illuminated with festoons of electric light, while the hall and surraundings were decorated with flags, hunting, etc. The scheme of decoration consisted of garlands of pink poppies, a fine centre-piece from which was hung a golden basket containing red and yellow roses at the rear of tlm hall, the American flag occupied a promin- , ent position, while on a large mirror emblazoned in letters of gold (entwined with foliage) the words “An J Revoir.” The supper room was also tastefully decorated by the ladies committee. Miss Keeley arrived in her motor dir shortly after 8.30 and was received by the ladies’ committee and escorted to the ball room. ~ After slipper . Miss Keeley was presented with a.,,,beautiful travelling case, fitted witli useful requisites. ~ We all will be. glad 'to give a welcome back to our /avorite acti’ess.
