Mr E. E. Hancock, of Ngaere, has been in Canterbury for some weeks in search of a Shorthorn bull with which to improve his dairy herd an 1 lias purchased Suimysidc Lord Darlington !. from the authorities ol the Suimysidc Mental Hospital. Mr Hancock’s new purchase, which will he a distinct acquisition to the district, is an animal of quite aristocratic breeding, and his owner is to be congratulated on securing such a high-class beast. Suimysidc Lord Darlington 1. is a dark roan, is rising ten months old, and was bred at the -Mental Hospital, which for many years has deservedly enjoyed an enviable reputation for the high quality of its cattle. He is by Suimysidc Lord Darlington (2168)J and in the male line is'descended froin Carpet Prince (imported Q.ILB. 91,135 (2100), Beaulieu Duke (38th (1201),: Waipawa Duke •(1.102), Darlington Earl (817), Earl of Boa coils, field (238), and Spuit.m (230 N). l-lis dam, is Suimysidc Bonnie .Jean .111.: (5651), second dam, Siinnyeido Bonnie Jean (1550), third dam, Ellesmere Darlington Beauty I. (3-135); fourth dam, Darlington Beauty (2130), tilth dam, lied Hose. (2121),. sixth dam, Queen of Athens 11. (2051).
