ALLIES’ SELF-SUPPORTING. POLICY. [United Press Association.] (Received 8.45 a.m.) London, June 22. An association of British chemical and Allied manufacturers was formed to-day to provide products for the dye industries. It was pointed out that Switzerland, which had been our salvation since the war, was onlr able to supply a small proportion. Many manufacturers were ready to start new works if a guarantee was forthcoming. British Dyes, Limited, is progressing in Huddersfield, Manchester, and Leeds.
THE COMMONWEALTH LOAN. FAVORABLE RECEPTION. (Received 1.20 p.m.) London, > June 22. Subscriptions to the Commonwealth loan close on Tuesday. Stockbrokers have given it a favorable, reception. The Commonwealth Bank was thronged- with applicants. The prospectus, which will be advertised to-morrow, announces that the whole of the piocceds will he paid to the States for public works, Victoria receiving £650,000, Queensland £1,275,000, South Australia £775,000, Western Australia £1,100,000, Tasmania £200,000.

They' irinst realise that henseforth woman was a permanent factor in the economies,problem, and unless they began to prepare there would be a national disaster. Women must not be regarded as cheap labour. A resolution was carried demanding vigorous economic re-organisation for the establishment of the most rigid blockade and the amelioration of the conditions of British prisoners.
