A Masterton party who went to the Otaki races had a rather unique experience. They left Masterton by motor car at 6.30 a.m. They encountered a very heavy frost fn the. Forty Mile Bush, a denve fog at Pahiatua, three or four mob-; of cattle in the Manawatu Gorge, three punctures 1 ietween the Gorge and Palmerston, two punctures thereafter, and eventually found themselves at Foxton. When they reached Otaki they were just in time to see the last race.
