SMUTS' PROGRESS REPORT.
OPERATIONS IN GERMAN EAST AFRICA.

General Smuts, in a despatch dated 13th April, gives details of the operations in German East Africa. The German forces are estimated at sixteen thousand, of whom two thousand were whites, with sixty guns and eighty machine-guns.
