Referring to need tor effort and the .shamefulness of certain anti-eonscrip-tionist agitators, the Lyttelton limes in a late issue says;—“lt ought not to he necessary to say, over and over again, that the Kmpire is in dire peril and that whatever small sacrifice of freedom may be demanded of the British citizen just now is required to avert a condition of abject humiliation and slavery, if not worse.
