Mr Edward Jackson was this afternoon elected President ot the Stratford A. and 1?. Association.
Messrs A. E. Lamb (Toko) and C. T, Fear on (Kohuratahi) have been passed as medically he lor ihe Reinforcements.
A Sydney telegram announces the death of Mr William George John, general secretary of the Theosophical Society, and formerly of New Zealand.
The death is announced from Dunedin of William Barron, who was M.H.R. for Cavorsham for the years 1897 to 1890. He had occupied the position of Master of the 0 rancl_ Lodge of Freemasons. His age was cG.
A. farewell social was held last evening in Mr E. A. Cramer’s tea rooms, in honor of Col.-Sergeant L. Rohmson, who is leaving the district, to take up a position in ihe ironmongery track' m Wellington. Ex Col .-Sergeant Marchant, on behalf of those assembled, spoke of the good qualities of Col.Sergeant Robinson, and all wished mm success in his new sphere. Col -Sergeant Robinson suitably responded.
