HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.
“THE ONLY SON.”
A Famous Players’ drama in five parts entitled “The Olily Sun, is the principal attraction at His Majesty s Theatre to be shown for the last time to-night. It is the story of a neer-do-well, who makes a big fight for his mother’s honor. An inventor with a patent creosating process and a millionaire are concerned in the development of the story. Other fine items of the programme include “Modern and Ancient Rome,” “The Jnngiran Rail wav” (one of the engineering wonders of the world), “Patho’s War GaV.ette,” and a Sidney .Drew comedy, “Fox Trot Finesse.”,
NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW. Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Liverpool,have intimated to tlie Committee their intention of visiting the Show on Thursday next, the 22nd inst. Preparations are well advanced for the big event and the grounds and buildings are taking up the regulation show appearance. Recent improvements have made a great alteration in the appearance of the appurtenances. There is now no necessity foi any visitor to get wot in case of had weather as in the old days. Excellent entries have been received in all sections from machinery to cookery and from horse competitions to butter and cheese. Tlie committee’s efforts to encourage the bee keeping industry have been rewarded by a good entry which will result in a fine display of the products of tho bee. Another departure is the introduction of a competition for Red and Sainhur Deer heads which will result in a show of some 25 to 30 heads. There seems to have been some doubt as to whether the To Ante-Wanganui College ■ football matches would he played, and we are authorised to state that final arrangements have been made to play off these popular matches on Wednesday next, 21st June, second day of the Show. The maiden hunters and Colliuson Cup competitions are down for the day following, Thursday, the 22m1. An item that was arranged too late for inclusion in the schedule is the cadet drill competition. This will eventuate on Friday afternoon after the pony leaping competition. The Manawatu Poultry Association will pen well on for a thousand of the best blooded birds in the Dominion, so that lovers of the fancy will have something to study. Given anything like fine weather the exertions of the Committee should bo rewarded by a bumper attendance.
