OPERATIONS IN THE LAKES DISTRICT. United Rubs* 'Aesr>i;iATion. (Received 8.15 a. in.) Havre, June 15. A Belgian communique states: General Tambour is continuing the pursuit, and has reached throe points on the high road between Lakes Victoria, Xyanza and Tanganyika. A light column occupied Usuombura, at the head of Lake Tanganyika, on the Bch, and are marching towards Kitega about which the Germans are concentrated. GENERAL SMUTS’ REPORT. CLEARING AWAY THE ENEMY. The High Commissioner reports:— London, June 15 (-1 p.m.) General Smuts reports on the 13th that his northern column reached Makuyuni Wilmhelmstal, which is now ours. Also that Tanga is reported to he clear of tho enemy. FURTHER PROGRESS REPORTED (Received 9.40 a.m.) London, June 14. Official—General Smuts’ northern column has reached Makuyuni and occupied Wilhemstal. They reported that Tanga is clear of the enemy.
