At Kaimata on the same day lor Mr Dunwoodie's clearing sale, I had n large attendance from all parts ot the district. Dairy cows showing to 1,0 earlv cnlvers sold well, making np to CM ss. but the backward looking sorts were not in such good demand, selling at from £7 10s to £9 ss. Sheep and sundries, made top prices, •2-vear in-calf heifers also were selling well.
At Stratford, on Tuesday 6th inst., for my fortnightly sale, I had a full yarding, the majority again being farmers' eattle, and I had no difficulty in clearing practically the full yarding at advanced prices throughout. Yearling steers made from £3 to C 3 12s (id. small and weedy 30s fid to 15s, best weaner heifers £2 3s to £2 12s 6d, weaners 33s fid to 38s, empty 20months heifers £3 12s fid to £4 9s, small £3 to £3 9s, in-calf choice 2year Jersey heifers £9 2 S 6d, good sorts £5 2s to £~i 10s, choice springing heifers up to £lO, others up to £fi 7s (kl, 20-months steers t() 7s, rough 15month steers £4, 2J to 3-year steers £9, small store cows £1 13s to £5 12s 6d, good fresh store cows £fi to £0 15s, forward cows £7 7s to £3 15s, fat cows £9 to £ll 12s fid, bulls £8 to £lO 10s, cull ewes 1 Is 3d, cull lambs <)s 7d to 12s, small lambs Us 9d, fat and forward ewes 23s to 23s 2d.
At Inglewood, on Wednesday 7th, there was a smaller entry than usual, all of which was sold under keen competition as follows: —Yearling steers £2 12s fid to £3 3s, yearling heifers Up to £2 13s, empty heifers £3 lis to £3 18s fid, store cows £5 Is to £fi 18s, forward cows £7 8s fid to £8 12s, fat cows up to £lO 7s fid, springing heifers £fi 17s fid to £8 15s.
On Friday, 9th inst., at Kaponga, there was a fair entry, competition being good, prices realised being;— Weaner heifers 31s to 455, HoMoin weaner bulls £3 10s, fat cows up to £lO 6s, forward cows £7 15s to £8 lis, store cows £5 10s to £6 15s fid, empty heifers £3 9 S to £l, good line of 20-month steers £6 15s, springing heifers £lO ss.
On the same day at Raliotn, there was a good entry, for which I had keen bidding, everything being sold with the exception of two pens of small 20-month in-calf heifers:—Yearling steers made £3 6s to £3 Bs, .smaller 37s fid to £2 15s fid, mixed steers and heifers £2 Is, yearling heifers £2 19s fid to £3 2s fid, others 39s to £2 2s fid, empty 20-months heifers £3 16s, fat cows £9 2s to £ll 2s. forward cows £7 12 s to £8 4s, store cows £.") lis to £6 12s Gd, choice Jersey 2-year in-calf heifers £lO 10s, good sorts £7 15s.
On the same day at Waitara, for Mr Wm. Cole, Junr's sale, there not being any sundries to offer, there was not a large attendance of the public. The prices obtained for the pedigree Holstein cows, 16 to 38 guineas were, on the whole, disappointing, but the young pedigree heifers and bulls and the grade cattle sold much better, very satisfactory prices being obtained for these. Empty pedigree 18-month heifers made from 12} to 29 guineas, young pedigree bulls 8 to 20 guineas, grade cows £lO to £l3 10s, aged cows £6 10s to £8 ss, empty 20-month Holstein heifers £5 15s, weaner heifers £3 13s, weaner bulls £3 7 S to £1 9s.
On Saturday, 12th inst., at the Haymarket, Now Plymouth, I offered 17 waggon horses on account of Mr K. F. Roebuck, of Okato. The host of these wore sold at from £l3 5s to £2O 10s, others £7 10s to £l3 ss.
