HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.
THE CARPET OF BAGDAD
Katiil.vn Williams i-s the bright particular star in Selig's Oriental feature lilm drama, screened at His Majesty's Theatre last night for the first time. The picture deals with ancient Bagdad, tamed in song and story, of sooth-savers, of crystal gazers, raid of how a precious prayerrug was boldly snatched from the innermost shrine of a sacred mosque. passed from hand to hand, and of how, in its travels, the rug imperiled the lives of two men and a beautiful woman. Some exceptionally line views of Cairo, and its native life are shown, also a very realistic desert sand storm. Altogether, the film is quite, one of the best eastern pictures seen locally. Some good supporting films are screened, including "The War Gazettoe," which includes wounded New Zealanders in England; "Basket-mak-ing," "Birdland Studies," and "The Honeymoon Baby." A feature of the programme is the excellent musical accompaniments by His Majesty's Orchestral Band.
