A GREAT FIGHT. GURKHAS VERSUS TURKS. United Peek# Ashociut.on. London, June Spo Mr E. Candler (Daily News correspondent), describing the fight at Deitaisha on April 15, states that ,the, Gurkhas fought so fiercely that dead Turks choked the trenches. They were either clubbed or hayoneited. ~ • The Turks in the evening counterattacked with twelve battalions, chiefly troops from Gallipoli, the pick of the Turkish army, jfhe Gurkhas held them for twenty minutes, but could not got ammunition quick enough, so they fell back. The fight became a promiscuous melee, the killing being done with bayonets, rifle-butts, and revolvers. Some of our field gunners fired chance shots and rattled the Turks, who retired. A howitzer battery swept them, with the result that fifteen hundred dead Turks on this sector were counted next morning. Three thousand were killed during the fight.
A TURKISH COMMUNIQUE.

A Turkish commuu,elites; We drove the Russians out of their positions on the Caucasus front, extending over fourteen kilometres, and chased them for eight kilometres. We occupied positions on the Mairam range dominating the enemy’s left wing, and captured much munitions. Enemy detachments seeking to save their guns were killed. Seven enemy ships bombarded Kuscheada and the coast eastward, causing a fire.

A communique states': General Brussiloff captured many of the enemy batteries intact. Our artillery stopped a largo Turkish offensive in the direction of Erzingan, and we occupied strongly fortified positions in the Hanakin region. Our cavalry attacked the enemy trenches and sabred several battalions..
