The Defence Department have issued a new regulation which permits the wives of soldiers drawing a separation allowance to earn extra money regularly at any occupation or business. Previously, they were debarred, but the extra cost of living decided the authorities in making the allowance unconditional. The training of citizen forces, which was suspended at the outbreak of the war, will be resumed on July 1, but in future will be carried out at camps established throughout the Common* wealth.
