REJECTED GERMAN PEACE TERMS.
HOLLWEC GUARANTEES FREEDOM OF THE SEAS! (United Pekßß -Association.] (Received 9.10 si.in.) Amsterdam, June 6. During the Budget debate in the Reichstag, Herr von Bethmann Hollweg said: The. Allies rejected the Germans’ peace terms ~in Decoityber, hoping the war map would change in their favour, whereas it has changed in Germany’s favour, notably at Kut-el-Amavav .Yqrdun,..Austrians advance into Italy, the collapse of the Russian offensive in March: and the Jutland naval battles. If our enemies shut their eyes,- to the war map, we must, will, and shall fight for final victory. We did what we could to pave the way for peace, and our enemies repelled us with scorn.” Hollwcg promised that the censorship of political matters would he the lightest possible. He concluded: “Our naval victory won’t tempt us to boast that England isn’t beaten, but the victory enables Germany to guarantee the freedom of the sea in future to small nations.”
