Hughes'and McCartney, were conveying £21)00 to pay the workmen at the new post office in Spencer Street. Three men, armed with revolvers, rushed up in a motor-cur, threw pepper m the officials’ laces, and struck McCartnev a severe blow on the head. Returning to the post office he deposited the money, which was in a bag, on the counter to attend to the telephone. A man entered, secured the bag, and bolted. He has not been caught.
